What is Answer Position?
Answer position is where in an AI answer your brand shows up. Being the first name the assistant gives carries most of the value; a mention at the end of a list of seven carries little. It is the closest AI-search equivalent to a ranking position.
Why first mention wins
Assistants often present one primary recommendation with reasoning, then alternatives. Users anchoring on the first suggestion is the same behavior that made rank one in Google disproportionately valuable. In conversational flows it is stronger: follow-up questions usually dig into the first name, not the sixth.

- Record position, not just presence, for every monitored prompt
